Dear Light Art People Partners Friends,

I would like to provide information about my current activities and previous and upcoming projects and work.

From December 29th to January 14th I will be showing my site-specific installation 'Time Drifts Bremen' on the occasion of the 'Lights of the City' light festival in Bremen. The project is part of the Time Drifts series. For the installation, I portrayed people in Bremen and collected terms and words that I will integrate into my picturesque abstract worlds in the installation at Bremen's St. Peter's Cathedral. The installation will be on view daily from 12/29/23 to 01/14/24 from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

I am currently part of the group exhibition 'Companions' at the Museum of Non-Objective Art in Otterndorf / Cuxhaven. The exhibition is open until March 17, 2024.

I am currently showing in Mexico as part of the Guadalajara International Book Fair and as part of the exhibition 'Artistic Expressions in Contemporary Europe', an immersive digital art experience with works by 40 European artists will be on view until February 24, 2024. I am 'SÄTEET' with the audio/visual work. The MUSA Museo de las Artes at the University of Guadalajara will present “Immersive digital art experiences: a sensory journey into the world of fantasy,” curated by Stefano Fake.

The permanent installation has been on display in the Predigerkirche in Eisenach since October 1st. The walk-in installation on St. Elisabeth can be seen during the museum's opening hours.

In the last few weeks and months I have been able to realize further projects/work and installations.

On Fri September 1st and Saturday September 2nd I showed the installation 'spectrum 2023' at the historic Lahn Bridge in Wetzlar. On the occasion of the anniversary '250 Years of Goethe in Wetzlar' in 2022, I developed a video/light installation. Lukas Taido developed the music specifically for this. Speaker Mathias Kopetzki. On the weekend of September 8th - 10th the group exhibition ' Farbappartat ' took place in the Monopol Berlin. Works by Jan Muche, Oliver Lanz, Elisabeth Sonneck and pictures from Bernd Wolf's estate were shown in the spectacular former factory rooms. There I showed my paintings and painting mappings (combination of projection mapping and painting). My installation GLOWING TIMES (30 YEARS OF THE ZOLLHAUS) took place in Leer at the historic Zollhaus between September 22nd and 30th, 2023. On September 22nd and Saturday, 23rd, my installation 'ZEIT & TIMES' could be seen at the Fehnturm in Herzogenaurach. At the end of September I showed the installation 'Time Drifts Trier' at the historic cathedral on the newly named Human Dignity Square.

On October 9th, on the day of the peaceful revolution, I showed the project 'We - Leipzig' at the New Town Hall on the occasion of the LICHTFEST LEIPZIG 2023. The music and composition was composed by Lukas Taido himself. A Leipzig chamber choir of around 35 members under the direction of Andreas Reuter sang live from the New Town Hall onto the facade on which I had projected.
The film of the installation can now be seen online at

The 11th Hohler Biennale 2023 'LandUNTER' took place in Gera from July 21st to October 13th, 2023. I showed my long-term project Riverine Zones to the cavers in the underground former beer cellars. In November I was represented with the installation 'Digital Romantic' at the Glanzlichter Festival in Fürth. The first Katerbow Leuchtet, which I initiated, also took place in November. To do this, I implemented installations at various locations in Katerbow near Netzeband/Neuruppin.

I'm also working on my painting and analogue images.

All the best and LightsON!

I wish everyone a nice end to the year and a merry Christmas!

Fine Art Works
Through my online shop I offer paintings on canvas and paper as well as fine art prints and led light boxes from previous installations and
digital paintings / video stills. I worked on new digital images, but also on analogue images such as painting on canvas and on paper. Added
A new series of overpainted prints has arrived, in which my different working techniques complement each other: painting, photography, installation and
art print. The overpainting makes the prints unique.

Lichtkunst/ Projection Mapping Installation in Bremen

Time Drifts Bremen at the historic St.Petri Cathedral in Bremen
Bremen 2023/2024

Light art/ projection mapping installation in Bremen

At the end of 2023 and beginning of 2024, the Berlin artist Philipp Geist (1976) will develop a poetic-picturesque light-video installation on the facade of the historic St. Peter's Cathedral in Bremen. An artistic interplay is created between the population, the historical facade, the cathedral courtyard and the audio-visual content of the mapping projection.
An immersive light room is planned, a walk-in light installation that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of light on Cathedral Square. The visitors who are in front of the cathedral, in the Domshof, become part of the projection. Visitors will be able to see words and associations relating to the New Year, words and wishes for the coming year, and location-specific terms about Bremen and its history. These terms are projected onto the ground in front of the historic site and into theater fog. A light carpet of submitted terms is created.
Historical themes are incorporated into the installation. The installation will be further developed over the 2 weeks and consists of 2 parts. In the first part of the installation the focus is on the words and terms that the population sends in. Which are location-specific and show wishes and thoughts for the coming year. In the second part, portraits of Bremen citizens are integrated into the installation. The place is transformed into a changing space of light and encounter. The facade mapping, which traces the elements from the historical architecture, reinforces the architecture and sets it in motion out of balance.
The installation will not be an illustrative effect video mapping show, but rather an artistic interplay of historical images, abstract imagery, concepts about wishes and thoughts for 2024, and in the second part, faces of the city of Bremen.
Geist's projects are primarily characterized by their complexity in the integration of space, sound and moving images. His video mapping installations transform a wide variety of architecture and locations around the world into moving, painterly light sculptures that challenge the viewer's perception of two- and three-dimensionality.

After 32 years, 111 curated exhibitions, 82 catalogs, 3 renovations and a name change of the museum, Dr. Ulrike Send the Museum of Non-Objective Art on her “permanent vacation”.

She leaves behind a program-oriented space that gave international artists a forum, a school of visual and sensory perception that lived the term 'educational institute' through the high quality of the exhibitions.
Her last exhibition, 'Companions', bears witness to an exciting long journey in which, in addition to the connection to her oeuvre, friendships with the artists developed. It illustrates and tells about those who were and are not only companions but spiritual allies.
The exhibition is intended to be a review of her work, which at the same time represents a benchmark for the future.

Dauerinstallation
So entstehen Geists teils minimalpuristische,

As part of the Fürth Glanzlichter, the artist Philipp Geist developed a walk-in video/light installation in the Dr. Konrad Adenauer facility. On the occasion of the classic by Lewis Carroll (author 'Alice in Wonderland'), Geist is developing an associative, poetic and playful light art installation. In addition to the romantic pavilion, trees and ground areas are also projected with various projectors. The idea is to create a poetic oasis of light and projection in the middle of the city of Fürth. Projections move across the trees in the park in a shadowy, large format. as well as submitted terms and associations on the topic of Alice in Wonderland are integrated into the abstract, picturesque world of images. The visitors themselves become part of the installation and can walk through the park and the large-scale projections on trees, the ground and on transparent fog.

Projections onto fog make the painterly projections appear in space. An interplay arises between the concrete, tangible projection onto the architecture, the pavilion, the shadowy projections in the trees and on the ground as well as the transparent, evaporating projection surface in the fog.

Wir Leipzig 09. Oktober 2023 Lcihtfest Leipzig

Light art installation on Burgplatz in Leipzig by Philipp Geist
Music: Lukas Taido with the integration of the local choir Leipziger Kammer Choir with Andreas Reuter

As part of this year's commemoration of the Peaceful Revolution in Leipzig on October 09, 2023, Philipp Geist is developing the installation "WIR - Leipzig" on City Hall in Leipzig. Participation and the integration of people is an important part of Philipp Geist's installation "Wir - Leipzig". Visitors become part of the installations. The local choir, Leipziger Kammer Chor with Andreas Reuter, will be integrated into the 2023 concept. The choir sings from the recorded facade. The Berlin musician Lukas Taido is developing a musical composition for this. The local choir establishes a site-specific connection with the town and with Leipzig. "WIR - Leipzig" wants to show the genius loci of the city. It is also planned to integrate short passages from the life or quotes from civil rights activists of the Peaceful Revolution by 1-2 local speakers in the installation. In addition, current and historical portraits of citizens of Leipzig are projected onto the facade and interwoven into the artistic, abstract and picturesque image compositions. It's about showing the WE, the togetherness, the togetherness and also the diversity of the city. Geist will also create portraits of people from Leipzig in advance and integrate these and historical portraits into the installation. The audio/visual installation can be seen as a performance on various facades. In the collaboration between Philipp Geist and Lukas Taido, music and image are closely linked. The music generates and controls the generative image compositions and the music in turn responds to the images. A mutual, inspiring interplay of image and sound. Geist's painterly compositions are created through generative processes, through the integration of specially painted, analog acrylic painting and the incorporation of local site-specific imagery digital painterly structures worked out on the computer using coding. This creates a connection between analogue and digital processes. The installations usually have a lead time of several months and are developed in different stages. Topics are researched and image content and portraits are created. The installations can usually only be seen temporarily. The installation "Wir - Leipzig" can be experienced live on October 9th. Become part of "WIR - Leipzig" and immerse yourself in the polyphony and diversity of this city.

Time Drifts Trier 2023

Time Drifts Trier 2023
Light art/ projection mapping installation in Trier at the square of human dignity
As part of the Illuminale 2023, the Berlin artist Philipp Geist (1976) is developing a poetic-painterly light-video installation on the Human Dignity Square (formerly Bischof-Stein-Platz), on part of the historic façade of the World Heritage Site, the Trier Cathedral, the Memorial to the Sinti and Roma who were persecuted and murdered during National Socialism and the adjacent facades. An artistic interaction is created between the architecture of the historic cathedral facade, the square of human dignity, the visitors and the audio-visual content of the light art video installation.
An immersive light room is planned, a walk-in light installation that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of light on the Square of Human Dignity. The visitors who are in the square become part of the projection. Words and associations related to the subject of human dignity, site-specific terms relating to Trier, the cathedral and its history will be visible to visitors. These terms are projected onto the ground in front of the historical site and into theatrical fog that wafts across the square. A carpet of light is created from submitted terms and associations.
Historical themes are included in the installation. The installation will be on view for 2 evenings at the end of September. The facade mapping, which traces the elements from the historical architecture, reinforces the historical architecture and sets it in motion out of balance.

The participation of the population is very important. There should be a word and term appeal to the people of Trier in the run-up to the installation on the topics of Trier, human dignity, the cathedral and the history of the city. Another possibility for participation could be that chalk is laid out, with which the visitors trace the projected terms on the floor of the Square of Human Dignity and
can add more.
The installation will not be an illustrative effect video mapping show, but rather an artistic interplay of historical illustrations, abstract imagery, terms on the subject of human dignity, historical and current terms on Trier and the historical cathedral.
Geist's projects are primarily characterized by their complexity in the integration of space, sound and moving images. His video mapping installations transform a wide variety of architecture and locations worldwide into moving, picturesque light sculptures that challenge the viewer's perception of two and three dimensions.

Participation campaign by the artist Philipp Geist

Those who would like to see themselves immortalized in an installation have until September 15th to take part in a campaign by the artist Phillipp Geist. Illuminale fans and those who would like to become one are invited to give their word or word to the questions "What is light in darkness for you?" What makes the dark light for you?” to illuminale@trier-info.de. It doesn't matter whether it's numbers, names or general terms - it can be freely associated. The submissions are atmospherically projected onto the Square of Human Dignity in a wafting fog generated by smoke machines. They shine brightly in the air, on the ground and even on the visitors who move around the square and bring some light into the early autumn darkness.

PHILIPP GEIST: 'TIME & TIMES'

The Berlin artist Philipp Geist transforms public spaces worldwide into unique light and sound spectacles. His installation "Zeit & Zeiten" uses different perspectives of the projections to achieve spatial depth: Geist takes up the geometric lines and structures of the urban architecture, changes them in perspective and thus creates a new urban light space. The tower pulsates, the rigid architecture starts to move, the audience becomes part of the projection, which grows three-dimensionally in the theater fog: Historical architecture, geometric and graphic elements merge into a painterly, abstract composition. Urban space and art in symbiosis: time for a new multi-perspective look!

Lichtkunst in Wetzlar

Light art in Wetzlar

On September 1st and 2nd, the artist Philipp Geist will realize a spectacular video / light installation at the Old Lahn Bridge as part of the Bridge Festival 2023 in Wetzlar.
Last year Philipp Geist developed a video/light installation for Wetzlar on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of Goethe in Wetzlar. After the project had to be postponed, it should now shine all the brighter on September 1st and 2nd as part of the Bridge Festival 2023 in Wetzlar.

spectrum 2023 revolves around Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's color theory. The artist mainly works with abstract color compositions, with terms and illustrations from the work of Goethe. These are projected over a large area onto the Old Lahn Bridge, onto trees, a part of the weir and onto artificial theater fog.

The free artistic installation gives visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the installations and to experience a wide variety of architecture in urban space as moving, picturesque light sculptures. Music with interwoven spoken text passages and terms is to be created specifically for the installation. Philipp Geist, who has already implemented projects in many metropolises worldwide, lets Wetzlar, the city of Goethe and optics, literally appear in a "new light".

The video / light installation spectrum 2023, initiated and realized by the industrial network Wetzlar Network in cooperation with Stadt-Marketing Wetzlar, will be a spectacular experience for everyone.

INSPIRING! Invitation to the ceremonial opening of the walk-in room installation
Only a few days left - then it's time!

Transparent and abstract wings made of gauze were hung from the church ceiling and indicate the dynamic of the Holy Spirit, but also invite visitors to individual interpretations.

To this end, the artist projected concepts and wafting pictorial compositions onto walls, columns, the church ceiling, fleeting theater fog, and the wings. This created the effect of images appearing out of nowhere and then disappearing again. Musical accompaniment reinforces the impression of this installation.

The visitors could move under the wings and thus became part of the artwork.

This project was realized in cooperation with the Berlin light artist Philipp Geist. It offered an unusual form of preaching and made special spiritual experiences possible.

Light art installation 'Time Drifts Oldenburg' as part of the centenary of the Landesmuseum in Oldenburg 2023

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary, the Berlin artist Philipp Geist developed a poetic-painterly light-video installation on the facade of the State Museum in Oldenburg. An artistic interaction is created between the historic facade and the audio-visual content of the mapping projection. An immersive light room is planned, a walk-in light installation that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the artist's world of light. The visitors who are in front of the State Museum, the Oldenburg Castle, become part of the projection. Terms, words and associations related to the themes of the Oldenburg State Museum are projected onto the floor and onto the visitors. For this purpose, a projection is made onto the floor of the Schlossplatz. The State Museum has been located in the historic castle for 100 years. Many historical events have passed this testimony of Oldenburg's history. The inclusion of historical moments in the pictorial compositions, the integration of portraits of personalities, dates and historical terms creates a historical connection. The place is transformed into a changing space of light and encounter. The facade mapping, which traces the elements from the historical architecture, reinforces the architecture and sets it in motion out of balance. The museum stands for preserving the history and culture of the city, as well as conveying and communicating the past. The artistic installation connects history with the present and the modern possibilities to create an artistic space of experience. The projected terms and thought fragments deal with complexity and multiple perspectives, with the stories and faces of the city.
Public participation is very important. Words and terms were called out to the population of Oldenburg prior to the installation. Furthermore, current portraits of Oldenburg citizens were made, which are integrated into the installation. The installation is musically composed by a music composition by Lukas Taido with the narrator Mathias Kopetzki. The installation is about an associative interpretation of Oldenburg's history, with the exhibits of the collection and the integration of current terms and portraits. which are integrated into the abstract-painterly picture compositions and the visualized elements, which are partly shadowy, partly figurative.
Geist's projects are primarily characterized by their complexity in the integration of space, sound and moving images. His video mapping installations transform a wide variety of architecture and locations worldwide into moving, picturesque light sculptures that challenge the viewer's perception of two and three dimensions.

FINE ART PRINTS
Eingefangene Momente - Captured moments

In temporary, ephemeral light art projects, photo and video documentaries are essential to capture the moment. I spend hours and days photographing the respective installations, some of which only last a few hours or days, with my personal view. Works are created that are essential for my work in temporary locations and projects. The photo works are, so to speak, the sustainable nectar of the fleeting projects. Especially with the ongoing Hidden Places series, which are implemented in hidden places on individual flowers, former watchtowers, shipwrecks and ruins without an audience.
